1) Matches are not supervised by playmoresport.org coaches therefore parents are responsible for their children if they go down to the park and play a match without adult supervision.
2) The ladder will be made up of two or more boxes of up to 8 players in each box. Up to two boxes for Session One and up to two boxes for Session Two players. If there are two boxes for a session, then players will be distributed across the boxes as evenly as possible.
3) Each run will last approx. a school term (12-15 weeks). After the term groups reorganise and start again.
4) If you win a match you will be awarded 3 points. If you lose a match you will receive 1 point. Matches are played in your own time not during session times.
5) Each match will be best of 3 short sets to 4 games with a tie-break to 7 (winning by 2 clear points) if it gets to 4 games all. If a player is winning 4-3 and they win the next game they win the set 5-3. In the event that the score reaches one set all players can either decide to play another set or they can play a championship tiebreak to 10 points (winning by 2 clear points). If you cannot decide how to finish a match and there is more than 30 minutes left then another short set should be played. During the match sudden death (next point wins) is played at the first deuce. Returners select sides on sudden death points. This shortened format should mean that matches are completed within 90 minutes so it is suggested that you book a court for this length of time. Remember it’s easy to book courts on-line at www.parklangley.net. In the event a match is tied at one set all and there is less than 30 minutes left, a championship tiebreak to 10 points (winning by 2 clear points) should be played ensuring the match is finished.
6) If a match is unfinished after 90 minutes either
I) carry on and finish if there is a court to play on
II) re-arrange and continue from where you were
In the event that a player is injured or has to stop for another reason they forfeit the match and their opponent scores a win. If the match is stopped due to bad weather, players may arrange a time to continue the match from where they left off, or may decide that the player who is winning at that point wins the match.
7) If a player arrives to the match 20 minutes late, then that player will concede the first set 4-0. After 40 minutes late it will be considered a walkover. In this event the player receiving a walkover will win 3 points and the person that did not show will get 0 points. Please make sure that when you agree a time and date with a person/persons that you are going to play (incl. a rearrangement), it is clearly understood by both parties (ideally in an email or text message).
8) It is the winning player’s responsibility to go HERE and enter the score correctly into the form provided.
9) Players must play at least two matches each term in order to be included in the next term. If they fail to do this they will have to drop out (for the next term) and everyone else in the ladder moves up or new players will fill in space.
10) Players can play only once against each other player in their box each term.
11) Every player is responsible for having contact telephone number and emails of other players in the box. These will be emailed to you.
12) Players will provide balls.
13) Players are expected to follow tennis etiquette and do their best to agree date and time of play.
14) When contacting another player in your box in order to arrange a match please suggest 3 dates and times on which you can play so that your opponent can respond by agreeing to one of the dates. Once contacted please respond as soon as possible.
15) Box Winners names will be displayed on the playmoresport.org website.
